Ontario Fire Protection Grant Available

Fire departments across Ontario can access funding for cancer prevention equipment like vehicle exhaust extraction systems. Learn how The Tin Knockers can help you secure and use this grant.

THE DANGERS OF DIESEL EXHAUST FOR FIREFIGHTERS

Diesel exhaust is one of the most significant occupational health risks for firefighters, containing a mix of toxic chemicals that can cause serious long-term health issues. Exposure to these emissions in fire stations can increase the risk of cancer, respiratory problems, and other chronic illnesses. Effective fire station vehicle exhaust extraction is critical to protect your team and maintain a safe working environment.

Harmful Chemicals Found in Diesel Exhaust Include:

Air quality monitoring for automotive shops Ontario

Benzene & Benzo(a)pyrene: Carcinogenic compounds linked to blood disorders and cancer.

Dust and VOC monitoring AeroGuard

Formaldehyde & Carbon Monoxide (CO): Irritants that can damage the respiratory system, reduce oxygen transport, and cause dizziness or headaches.

Welding and grinding air quality monitor Hamilton

Nitric Oxides (NOx): Contribute to respiratory irritation, reduced lung function, and long-term cardiovascular issues.

Properly designed and installed fire hall exhaust extraction systems remove these dangerous emissions at the source, keeping your firefighters safe while improving air quality and operational efficiency.
